This is a dating site loosely based on a dating application my co-worker, Devon, developed for a previous client. The Sox had won the world-series that previous year, so this site capitalized on the glory. They went on to develop a dynasty.

Its been a long time, but I'll attempt to recall what stands out. It is a typical Social Networking site.

The design of the site has changed, but the general functionality is still the same. This is a testament to the flexibility of my XHTML/CSS combo

the Challenge

This was the first project
I recall the most challenging part regarding the very strange eCommerce/payment system they use, I've never revisited the system, but i seem to recall that we needed to go offsite for payment, in spite of being cognascent in cURL; which is strange, because we needed authorization of the payment before the account could be activated.

Features

Blog (some funny name)

I designed a blog for the admins to give his opinions on Sox activity. This was scatch-built.

Dating System

The meat and potatoes of the system. I can't recall how much was previously designed by my co-worker, however, it still required copious amounts of modification (i.e. Dating Attributes) and User-Interface modulation. There were other elements tacked on, such as Personal Messaging, akin to facebook or myspace.

Forums

I once wrote a Forum system for Japan4 sorta as proof of concept. During the process of writing this section, I discovered the value of Objects. It certainly was a lot more advanced than my previous build. It has all of the features you'd expect from a forum: Previews, Replies, PMs, Locking, Avatars, etc. I can still recognize my nominclature for the Request Variable 'ftId' (ex: "forum.php?ftId=6")

Afterwords

This was one of the first projects where I programmed in OO.
I long to rewrite a system of such a large scope; I like the idea of social networking sites, and I enjoy designing them. I am quite nostalgic about these monolithic systems I developed for Genevate.
